the other day my colleague told me about a not-so-pleasant incident at her wedding dinner, where one of their relatives left immediately after he arrived. what happened was that they had planned a free-seating arrangement for their relatives since everyone knew everyone. but it so happened that this guy ended up having to sit with another relative whom he didn't like, and thus left.

but she added, "at least he left after giving a red packet", which was related to what the boyfriend asked too, whether he gave an ang pow before leaving.

huh. seriously, i was shocked! is this what everyone cares about now? o.O?!

well, maybe one can argue that they are being positive, that at least something good came out of the incident. or am i just too naive, thinking that wedding dinners are supposed to be a celebration of the couple's union, and you're there because you're truly happy for them? hur hur.

工作真的是一波未平，一波又起，做不完。好多事，我都像无头苍蝇，慢慢地摸索。幸好，大老板也很体谅我的处境，凡事都很乐意地，很有耐性地解释给我。

更何况，知道有另个人肯伸出援手，真让我感动。尤其是，她身为老板的老婆，无需帮我这只小苍蝇。但她却毫无架子，即使只是帮了一点小忙，但我还是十分的感激。

患难见真情。

was whining to the boyfriend about how unproductive yesterday was: the morning started with a meeting with guests from indonesia. we had a long lunch, and after that i went out to do some stuff. by the time i came back and sat down at my desk to really start work, it was already 5pm.

today too, i spent most of the day doing admin stuff and responding to e-mails. the only most account-related thing i did today was 1 bank reconciliation and a small update to a forecast.

bad days. =\

driving on the roads.. shiok.

after 1 year of passing my driving test, i finally took to the roads last saturday! it was a short trip though, just drove to somewhere nearby to get some lunch.

first attempt at parking, after adjustments (photo inspired by pris)

the next day, my brother decided to be adventurous and asked me to drive the family home from taka. like, from orchard road. like, on a sunday night.

it was an exciting drive home with me, what with the spiral descent from the 6th floor of the carpark, and taking the expressway back. but i guess it must have been more exciting for those in the car, those who held on for dear life. im glad to report that other than being horned at once, nobody in the vehicle threw up, screamed or passed out during the journey.

one afternoon, when i was out at work, the niece was playing with the maid in my room, and she said, �i want to play with babywipes.�

i have always been very strict with her regarding the usage of babywipes, so the maid told her, �you cannot play with babywipes. 姑姑 will scold.�

the little mischievious girl replied �姑姑 not at home.�

my cousin recently received this out-of-office reply:

"Thank you for your email. I'm traveling (vacation, IETF, customer visit)
now and do not know if I will be able to answer timely, if at all.
Chance is that after return I will have such an email backlog, that I
don't answer your email this year.

If you have an urgent matter to discuss, try to reach my cell phone, or
my colleague, XXX. I will be back on August 10th.

Should you feel that there is a really extremelly urgent matter to
discuss,
Please include in the email subject in capital letters:

"SUPERIMPORTANT, BING, BANG, BONG"
and wire $50 to my banking account. I will try to allocate higher
priority
to your email upon my return.

Seriously: I will be trying to read emails almost every day; bear with
me.

my colleague is damn funny. her e-mail hasn't been working properly for the past week, so when she finally managed to receive e-mails today, this was her reply to me:

"OK!!!
Hooray... Finally...

Means have to work now"
